Tremol-No Pin Type Clamp
I have a 4yo fender mim player strat with a floating bridge. I read somewhere that locking the bridge in to place could result in greater sustain and a different tone quality.( I had previously experimented with a wooden clothes peg in the slot, would you believe, and liked the results. :). anyway, I installed the tremolno using the guide on the guitar world site, as the supplied instructions are not illustrated, and ambiguous. Luckily the guitar world guide was well laid out, but novice that I am, I still found the process fiddly. No soldering required, as promised. Sure enough, the bridge no longer floats, which was the desired state. My ears are telling me that the effect does seem to increase sustain, and relatedly, my Strat now seems to express more crunch when I want it, and the clean and warm tones are still there, but there seems to be more punch, as if maybe the stable bridge is helping the sound to resonate through the guitar body. Or this could all be a placebo effect, but I don’t think so. This gadget is recommended, if you think your true guitar “voice” has a firmer position between bridge and body, mine certainly does.
